Rural Arizona Action urges Willcox community members to attend an important public
hearing on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Willcox Community Center.
The Arizona Department of Water Resources will lead the discussion on whether to designate the Willcox Groundwater Basin as an Active Management Area (AMA), a move aimed at ensuring sustainable water use for local residents, businesses, and future generations.
Tom Prezelski, Senior Policy Advisor at Rural Arizona Action, emphasizes that "this decision will impact Willcox for years to come, and it’s essential that community members make their voices heard in this discussion. When communities like Willcox come together to share their perspectives, it leads to stronger, more equitable decisions that truly reflect the needs of local residents."
The meeting offers an opportunity for community members to hear evidence supporting the proposed AMA and to express their own views, ensuring that any decisions made about water management will incorporate local perspectives.
